木地屋とは世界一とも称される難易度の高い日本の木を轆轤（ろくろ）を使って挽きあげ、器の形を作る職人仕事のこと。日々木に触れ、木を知り尽くした私たちが新たに創り出す愛らしい器たちを五感で愉しんで下さい。木は自然素材、器との一期一会の出会いをどうぞ大切に。私たちの作る器で、経験と知識、技術の三本柱が揃わなければ実現できない繊細かつ温かな曲線美をお楽しみ頂けます。使用する材料は、生身の木を扱う私たち木地師だからこその着眼点から生み出された様々な挑戦を具現化。特に今まで破棄されていた節やアザなどを『あるがまま』の美しさとして最大限に活かした器が魅力です。

KIJIYA is a craftsman who uses a potter's wheel to grind Japanese wood, which is said to be the most difficult wood in the world, to form the shape of vessels. We hope you will enjoy with all five senses the lovely vessels newly created by our craftsmen who are in daily contact with wood and have a thorough knowledge of wood. Wood is a natural material, and we cherish each and every encounter with our vessels. We hope you will enjoy the delicate and warm beauty of curves that can only be achieved through the three pillars of experience, knowledge, and skill. The materials we use embody various challenges created from the viewpoint that we are wood craftsmen who handle raw wood. The beauty of the wood is especially appealing in the vessels that make the most of knots and bruises that have been discarded in the past as beauty “as is.
